NUST Business School (NBS) was established as NUST Institute of Management Sciences (NIMS) in 1999 to meet the increasing demand for skilled corporate managers and entrepreneurs. It was entrusted with the task of training and educating a class of business leaders equipped with practical business skills based in a broader intellectual and ethical framework to embrace the challenges and opportunities of an ever-changing marketplace. In 2008, the School moved to its new campus in NUST H-12 Campus with the renewed objective of providing high-quality education in management sciences. In Fall 2025, a new academic block was operationalized, adding 15 classrooms, 3 lecture halls, an auditorium, two hospitality labs, and numerous student discussion rooms.
NUST Business School offers 3 undergraduate programs (BBA with majors in HRM, General Management, International Business & Marketing, and Finance & Investment; BS Accounting & Finance; and BS Tourism & Hospitality Management) and 6 postgraduate programs (MBA, EMBA, MS Innovation & Entrepreneurship, MS Human Resource Management, MS Logistics & Supply Chain Management, and MS Marketing), in addition to a PhD in Business Administration. Over a short span of time, NBS has emerged as one of the fastest growing schools of business education in the country with its highly specialized faculty who possess exceptional teaching and research skills along with industry experience. It prides itself in its state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities which include 8 computer labs (approximately 350 workstations), a Data Analytics Lab, the Kashir Asghar Innovation & Entrepreneurship Lab (KAIEL), and a digital library with access to Harvard Business School Publishing resources.
Since its inception, there has been a significant increase in its student intake, which has risen from the pioneering batch of 97 in 1999 to the current approximate strength of 1,792. There has been an ever-growing demand for NBS graduates in the industry which can be credited to the enviable standards of education and research being imparted by the faculty. Around 90% of the faculty members have PhD degrees from leading national and international universities whereas the rest have professional and industry experience. Between 2019 and 2025, faculty produced 570 publications with 33,853 citations, achieving an impact per publication of 56.23. The School encourages the faculty and students to undertake research-oriented activities that include participation in conferences, publications in refereed journals and our own ‘NUST Business Review’ (HEC Y-Category, aiming for Scopus indexation) and conduct of R&D projects and consultancies.
The School strongly believes in close interaction between academia and industry and every effort is made to bring the two closer through frequent liaison, joint field projects, research activities, workshops, seminars and lectures by industry experts. Student internships at leading organizations are facilitated through the placement and career development office at the school besides a similar set-up at the University. Through regular interactive sessions with the corporate world, the School’s Centre for Industrial Linkages (CIL) also caters to projecting a positive image of NBS and its students. In February 2025, NUST Career Connect attracted over 2,500 students and 120 companies. The School has also prioritized societal impact through initiatives focused on SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work & Economic Growth), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption & Production), including the Transgender Training Program, Beyond Possibilities for deaf participants, and the Women Entrepreneurs (WE) Circle. Given the dynamism and ability of its students and alumni as well as the untiring efforts of the faculty and staff, the School is well on its way to fulfilling its vision of becoming one of the highly acclaimed business schools.
