3rd International Conference on Business, Management & Social Sciences (ICBMASS-2023)
The 3rd International Conference on Business, Management & Social Sciences (ICBMASS-2023) was held on 14-15 March 2023. The conference was jointly organized by the Centre for International Peace and Stability (CIPS), School of Social Sciences and Humanities (S3H), and NUST Business School (NBS). The theme of the conference was ‘Non-Traditional Security Threats’.  The conference featured distinguished speakers, such as Professor Dr. Ijaz Shafi Gilani (Chairman Gallup Pakistan), Lt Gen Zubair Mehmood Hayat HI (M) NI (M) (Retd), and Prof. Przemyslaw Osiewicz (Adam Mickiewicz University Poznan, Poland). Dr. Bakare Najimdeen (Head of Research, CIPS) Chaired the conference. ICBMASS is a flagship conference, sponsored by NUST Research Dte/RIC.
ICBMASS-2023 brought together scholars to deliberate on pressing issues related to Non-Traditional Security challenges including cybersecurity, climate change, food and environmental security, and economic and health security. The conference facilitated productive discussions and provided valuable insights that can aid in addressing these challenges for ensuring a sustainable future.
During the closing remarks, Maj Gen Salim Raza (Principal NIPCONS) and Professor Dr Ashfaque Hasan Khan (Principal S3H) highlighted the significance of recognizing the intricate and evolving dynamics of Non-Traditional Security threats. They emphasized the need for sustained attention and cooperation at both national and international levels to tackle such challenges effectively. In particular, Professor Dr Salma Siddique (Dean S3H) appreciated the multidisciplinary nature of the conference and underscored the importance of adopting a comprehensive and integrated approach to address the challenges associated with the Non-Traditional Security threats.
2nd  International Conference on Business, Management & Social Sciences(ICBMASS-2022)
The 2nd International Conference on Business, Management, and Social Sciences: Wellbeing – An Interdisciplinary Perspective was inaugurated in Jinnah Auditorium at NUST, H-12 Campus on February 8, 2022. NUST School of Social Sciences & Humanities (S3H) in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry, Michigan State University (MSU), USA and co-hosted by NUST Business School (NBS) & NUST Center for International Peace & Stability (CIPS) organized this conference. Lt Gen (Retd) Muhammad Asghar presided over the event as the chief guest and keynote speaker while Lt Gen Dr Nigar Johar graciously joined as the guest of honour by means of a recorded address.
Chief Guest Lt Gen (Retd) Muhammad Asghar delivered the keynote address in which the multifaceted aspect of wellbeing by drawing a comparison between Western & Islamic civilization was highlighted. The Chief Guest elaborated how wellbeing in Islam is a comprehensive concept that can be attained by ensuring a balance between personal and worldly affairs. To achieve true wellbeing, one must relate to their community by developing a sense of purpose via service to humanity.
In her message, Lt Gen Dr Nigar Johar highlighted Quaid’s message on promoting wellbeing to ensure nations prosperity. She emphasized the multiple domains of wellbeing which must be evaluated to ensure that the individual and the nation flourish. Pro-Rector RIC, Dr Rizwan Riaz commended the organizers on arranging an interdisciplinary conference on wellbeing. He emphasized NUST’s initiative in interdisciplinary research necessitating viable solutions by integrating strengths of various fields. Principal S3H, Dr Ashfaque Hasan Khan delivered the vote of thanks in which he expressed his gratitude to the Chief Guest Lt Gen (Retd) Muhammad Asghar, Guest of honor Lt Gen Dr Nigar Johar, Principal NBS Dr Naukhez Sarwar, Principal CIPS Maj Gen (Retd) Muhammad Salim Raza and the conference organizing team. He emphasized the importance of arranging an international interdisciplinary conference on wellbeing with the hope that the conference proceedings will aid in arriving at plausible solutions to integrating wellbeing in all areas of human life.
Dean S3H and the Chief Organizer of the event, Dr Salma Siddiqui highlighted the conference as a milestone as S3H’s first flagship International Conference and the commemoration of the Department of Behavioral Sciences completing a decade since its inception. The International Conference continued online on 9-10th February on various themes exploring wellbeing from an interdisciplinary perspective.

1st International Conference on Business, Management and Social Sciences (ICBMASS) was organised by NUST Business School with School of Social Sciences and Humanities (S3H), Centre of International Peace &  Stability (CIPS) as the co-hosts from 23-24 June 2021.

The Conference theme for the particular year was “Sustainability Management Challenges and Opportunities in a Changed World: Perspectives from Emerging Economies.”
