Yasar University, Turkey

Spring 2026 marked a truly meaningful chapter in my journey as I, Muhammad Arham Owais, a BS Accounting and Finance (ACF) student from the class of 2024 at NUST Business School, embarked on a semester exchange at Yaşar University in İzmir, Türkiye.

This experience went far beyond academics. While I maintained strong academic performance, with one of my presentations being recognized among the best, it was everything outside the classroom that made it unforgettable. I traveled across cities, immersed myself in new cultures and formed genuine connections with people from around the world. Connections that quietly reshaped the way I see both the world and myself.

Coming from a background in the Air Force, where I was boarded out due to an injury, to now finding myself in an international academic environment, I often reflect on how far life has brought me. It hasn’t been a straight path, but every phase has built my resilience, adaptability and perspective in ways I truly value.

This exchange has strengthened my capabilities and broadened my exposure, but more than that, it has taught me to embrace change with openness and gratitude. Some journeys don’t just take you places… they change the person who arrives.
