History (NIMS to NBS)
National University of Sciences and
Technology (NUST) was established in 1991 for promotion of
higher scientific education in the country by providing
stable and disciplined academic environment coupled with the
need-based research, pertinent to industrial requirements.
NUST was granted a charter in 1993. Since then university has expanded its scope, services, stature and
has emerged as a leading comprehensive university in the public
sector in the country.
In order to meet the growing demands for
skilled human capital in the field of Management Sciences,
NUST established an affiliated institute called NUST
Institute of Management Scineces in 1999.Its mission was to train and educate a class of business leaders learning
cutting-edge technologies and practical business skills in a
broader intellectual and ethical framework to respond to the
challenges and opportunities of the ever-changing market
place.
In 2008, NIMS was renamed as NUST Business
School (NBS) with the objective to provide relevant and
high quality education in Management Sciences. In less than
a decade NBS has emerged as one of the premier business
schools in Pakistan and a source of quality human resource
for the corporate sector.

Emergence of NUST Business School
(NBS) characterizes the vision for academic excellence that
NUST is known for, the world over. NUST Business School
is one of the 21 constituent Schools of National
University of Science and Technology. Over a short span of
ten years, NUST Business School has emerged as the fastest
growing Business School of the country by acquiring
the country's best Technology smart campus in the serene grounds
of national capital Islamabad, the best faculty in terms of teaching, research and industrial
experience. The new campus at H-12 Islamabad is equipped
with state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities
video-conferencing hall and classrooms with multimedia
support.
The strength of
student intake has dramatically increased from 97 in 1999 to
786 in 2009, due to ever-growing demand of NBS graduates in
the Industry.
Research Oriented Programmes
NBS offers BBA (Hons),
BS Economics , MBA,
EMBA and M.Phil leading to PhD programs in management
sciences. Areas of specialization include
NBS has a research oriented culture where
both faculty and students are encouraged to indulge in
research based activities like article writing for both
national and international research journals. NBS also
publishes a research journal of its own by the name of NUST
Journal of Business and Economics featuring research work of
different faculty members biannually.
At NBS, we believe
in taking Academia and Industry hand in hand by arranging
frequent interactions between the two including our field
projects, research activities, workshops and seminars, guest
speakers and by arranging internships and placements for our
students through our highly developed placement and career
development facility. Our Centre for Industrial Linkages
ensures positive projection of the School and its
students by timely interactions and keeping a
track of NBS student placements and progress in Industry.
The continuous
support from the NUST HQ, along with the
collective hard work and dedicated efforts of NBS Faculty
and Staff, NBS is on its way to
fulfilling its vision by becoming one of the best Business
and Economic studies institution in the country.

maintain high standards of academic and research
excellence. NBS faculty includes PhD's from the leading
international universities.

all other colleges and institutes of NUST, is

Students Societies
A number of co-curricular activities are
arranged, off and on campus, to provide students with a
healthy and positive outlet from the continuous rigor of
academic pressure. Various NBS clubs and societies arrange
the activities such as debating contests, quiz program,
dramas and social functions. Students are also encouraged to
take part in local and national events, along with arranging
and taking part in community activities.
